FATAL SLIP AFTER YEARS OF
SUCCESS

Arthtir Heppell, better known as Professor Cyril, .was killed on the .pier deck of the West Pier, Bright-, on, when about to perform his customary^ high dive with a bicycle into the sea. His' method was to cycle down a plank about a yard wide sloping from the Pier Pavilion across the pier deck to a point oyer the sea, and then plunge with his bicycle into the water." Yesterday the bicycle swerved m the ' middle of the run.
The rider made a desperate effort to .straighten it, but shot over, the edge, and amid cries of horror from the spectators fell .head first. -on to. the - deck twenty-five feet below. Death resulted from, a fractured skull. Ho was aged liu'rty-five and had; successfully performed for years the feat which ended tragically.
