At the Koombana inquiry the chief pilot gave evidence that the Koombana I was m splendid trim. Her crew Was | efficient, .arid Captain Allen was a care- , ful navigator, and took no unnecessary, risks. The acting-superintendent of the Adelaide Steamship Company gave the Court a demonstration of the Koombana' s stability and trim. Using an indicator, with weights equivalent to the cargo the Koombana was carrying, he showed that the stability of tlie vessel was quite satisfactory. The West Australian manager of company suggested that better facilities should be granted to enable captains to foi*m weather forecasts.
