SHEEPFARMERS' UNION.
The third annual meeting of tlie Poverty Bay and East Coast Sheepfarmers' Union was held this afternoon, Mr H. B. Williams presiding over a good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The report stated that a good fighting fund had been accumulated. The Labor Department insisted that the sheepowner must be able to shoAv in some form or other in the case of shearers the name of the shearer, rate of pay, hours worked peri day, number of sheep shorn per day, and the payments made therefor ; name of shed hand, rate of pay, hours Avorked each day, and Avages paid. Election of officers resulted as follows : President, Mr H. B. Williams (re-elect-ed); vice-president, Mr Richard Sherratt. The committee was re-elecetd as follows : W. D. Bell, W. R. Barker, W. Bruce, E. Coop, H. de Lautour, J. C. Field, M. Fitzgerald, T. Fraser, T. Holden, E. M. Hutchinson, H. -Kenway, J. B. Kells, W. D. Lysnar, E. V. Palmer, W. G. Sherratt, G. Walworth, K. S. Williams, C. H. Williams, H. Wallis, H. Williamson. Auditor, Mr L.. T. Symes. Votes of thanks Avere passed to outgoing officers, auditor, and committee. The shearers* award was discussed. Mr J. C. Field stated that it would be better if the shepefarmers Avould agree amongst themselves before next shearing time as to the payment for shearing stud sheep, instead of leaving it to be settled by agreement between individual employer and shearer, which gave rise to dissatisfaction. The suggestion Avas approved of.
