MURDER OF FAMOUS SHOWMAN.

LONDON, November 29. A great sensation wa's caused m Finchley last night when it became known that Lord George Sanger, the famous showman, had been found by the police lying on the floor of his farmhouse m East-end road, East Finchley, with a wound m his head, apparently ,he result of a .blow from a hatchet, and that his condition was so serious that he was not expected to recover. In the same house an employee named Jackson was found with his throat cut. He is expected to live. Another employee, a man "named Austin, had a wound m his head. The outrage is supposed to be the work of a man who was employed on the farm. fhis man, who was actually seen by Austin, escaped. [Subsequently he committed suicide.] Since his retirement from the "profession" Lord George Sanger has been living at Park Farm, a somewhat isolated house with some acres of grounds m East Finchley. About six o'clock he" was sitting m, his dining-room ouietly reading, wherj his assailant dashed into the room, and before Lord George could defend himself struck him several blows on the head, laying open the scalp and causing him to drop helpless to the floor. The man then mado his way to two other rooms m the house, where two of Lord George's farm employees were sitting. One of them was at once felled by a blow from the chopper. The assailant, who appeared to be m a state of frenzy, threw away his weapon, and, drawing a razor, slashed it across Jackson's throat. He then bolted from the .house. In. tho meantime Lord George Sangerhad recovered somewhat, and although his face was streaming with blood he managed to crawl from the house. Outside ho was joined by the two other men, and very soon the police and' medical men were summoned. Lord George Sanger was assisted back to the house, and his injuries attended to by Dr. Baker, the police divisional surgeon. . . At a late hour last night it was announced that Lord Georgo Sanger had died as the result of his injuries.
