BRAVERY REWARDED.

(Press Assn.—By Telegraph.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 8. The Royal Life Saving Society has awarded gold medals to the Coogee heroes, Baker and darken. The fund has reached £2820. One of the heroes of the surf-bathing tragedy at Coogee Beach, Sydney, on Saturday, January 28, Mr J. Clarkin, is a [New Zealander. Prior to going to Australia some 10 years ago, Clarkin was a mill hand m the Paeroa district. He is a prominent footballer, and some years ago visited New Zealand with a touring football team. The heroic efforts of Clarkin and Harold Baker m rescuing distressed bathers are to be suitably recognised m Sydney. The subscription movement with the object of obtaining a thousand pounds, was taken up with enthusiasm by Mr Ward, of "Girl from Rector's" fame. ;
