A CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERY.

♦ (Per Press Associntibn.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. ■Tho dead body of a woman about 33 years of age was discovered m a right-of-way off Cashel street shortly after / o'clock this morning. The clothing was disarranged, and abrasions on the body pointed to foul play. The contents of the stomach are to be analysed. The police state the body was certainly not m the right-of-way at 2 a.m. to-day, md that it was probably placed there xfter life was extinct after 4 a.m. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The woman found dead m a- right-of-way of the city yesterday morning has now been identified as Ethel Bradley, a single woman, aged 34 years, who had heen employed m the city as a housekbeper. She was seen m Cashel street at Bon Tuesday night. Nothing is known of her subsequent movements. The body was found at 7 a.m. A doctor asserts that she had then been dead six hours. The police believe that the body was carried into the right-of-way, where it was hidden, and where it could not be seen from the street. It was not there at 2 a.m., when a police sergeant went through. Tlie woman was pregnant. The police theory is that the woman died of poison, and an anlysis of the contents of the stomach is now proceeding.
