! (Per Press Association.) I . * AUCKLAND, this day. ■ 1 A single man named David John Thomson, a. linotype operator, committed suicido yesterday afternoon by drinking lysol. The deceased had also inflicted wounds on his throat, but the poison was the cause of death. The reason of the act is unknown. Verran Powell, aged nine, son of Sergeant Powell, died m the. hospital from injuries after being run over by a trap m Symonds street. WAIHI, this day. • A miner, J. Hubbert, Was seriously injured m one of the stopes m the Grand Junction mine-, as the result of a heavy iron bar falling on his back. MASTERTON, this day. • An inquest on the, remains of J. A. J. McLean was held at noon to-day. The coroner returned a verdict that death was duo to accidental drowning. WELU_I*GTaN, thi* day. The dead body of a. man, about 55 or 60 years of age, was found floating near the dock site to-day. It was fully clothed, and an overcoat found on the bank close by is . supposed to have belonged to the deceased. The body is that of a man of sft 7in m height, and has not yet been identified. BLENHEIM, this day. Two boys, Walter Penny and Albert Kitching-, both aged 15, were out rabbit shooting yesterday afternoon with pea rifles. Penny fired through a gorse bush at a rabbiC. The bullet struck Kitching m the abdomen, passing out at the side. Fortunately it passed' the "-Vital organs, am ".heßoyf.isitikely to recover.
