ATHLETICS.
(Per Press Association.) ; WELLINGTON, last night. The Council- of 'the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met to-night. The Otago centre offered £10 towards the cost of pending a New Zealand team to compete at the inter-State cross-country champion^ ships m Tasmania. It was decided that as the date of this event, clashes with the New Zealand cross-country championship, a team cannot be sent. There was a long discussion m regard to a letter from the Auckland centre with reference to D. Wilson's application for the New Zealand three miles wolk record. The chairman had ruled at a previous meeting that this record could not be passed, as the application had not, been made within 60 days of the performance. This was upheld by tonight's meeting. . A request of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen to reciprocity m regard to dis. qualifications .was -agreed to, • provided the League falls into line with the Association . on certain points where the rulqs of' the two bodies now differ. The Queensland. Shield was awarded to the Wellington centre for scoring the most records and standards at the New Zealand championship meeting.
