STORM AT NELSON.
(Per Press Association.) NELSON, this day. A heavy north- Avesterly gale, with high running tides, caused the highest sea on the city foreshore for many years. 'The Port road, the lower, part of the Wood, and part of Washington Valley are under iwater. It is believed that considerable damage has been doiie at the Port-, and boats are out resetting poultry and removing goods m the Wood. The'' water washed' OA'ei* Halifax street, near the centre of the city right to the foot of the, neAV post-office stairs. Heavy rain has fallen. It is now clearing though the -gale is f.till raging.
