The green was m fine order. Martin, Gee, Coltman, Ooldstone 25, South Melbourne 27. The New Zenlanders scored at 11 heads. Broad, Bastings, Bentlfly, and Scoullar 35. South Melbourne 22. The home rinlc got m one 6. . Thenceforth their highest score was 2, the New Zealanders scoring consistently, and 1 got several fives and fours.Wallace, McGibbon, H.iin, Findlay 26. Melbourne 19. The local skipper, Slatter, is an oxchampion. The totals were : New Zealand 166, South Melbourne 139, , The game ended under electric lights, the novelty appealing to the New Zealandors. . Previous to the start, the visitors were welcomed by President Skinner, and were loudly cheered. An adjourhr ment took place at 4 p;in., when Mr Skinner, on behalf of the local cricket, football, and bowling clubs, cordially welcomed the New Zealanders. Messrs Strangiirti'd and Major, on behalf of the citizens, made felicitous reference?, which were reciprocated by Messrs ! Wnddel and Allnnt, both referring to the charming and picturesque green.
