ROWING.
The semi-final m the Gisborne Rowing Club's Gibbon fours was rowed off on the VV'aimafa river last evening between iiayly and Bright. Both . crews • got away together, and the race proved a very hard one. Bayly obtained a slight advantage and maintained a short lead by good rowing, winning by three-quar-ters of a length. To-night, the final will be rowed' between Kersliaw -.and Bayly, and an exciting contest is expected, 'l'he club have decided t» cable to Edwards, of Melbourne, for a new light maiden racing clinker for regatta purposes. If it combs to hand m time the club will send two crews, a maiden and junior, to take part m the- champion regatta at flupier about Eastev. It is anticipated two good crews . will be selected to represent the club. The Schumacher sculls will bea-owed on. the 16th, and the winner and second m this event will m all probability be chosen to represent the club m the fixture with, the Poverty Bay Club for the Grieye's Championship Cup. The Hennessey fours will also be rowed on the 16th.
