(Per Press Association.") INVERCARGILL. this dav. Tlie Orepuke Advocate office and a dwelling attached wera destroyed by fire nt 2 o'clock this morning. Nothing was saved from* the office, only a few articles of furniture from the buildinsr. .which was occupied by a family named Osborn. The proprietor of th© paper, Mr Ftshier, was übsent in Wellington. The insurances on 'l<e buildincrs ore £275 in the Commercial Union, and on the plant £220 in the North British. (Special to Herald.) DUNEDIN, this day. Mrs E. Colville, who recently forwarded a copy of her "songs and poems" to Queen Alexander, has received an acknowledgment "by command" from Miss Knollys. This is the third occasion on which the "Otago poetess" has received Royal acknowledgement of her verses.
