» TWO STEAMERS FOUNDER. EMPRESS LINER SUNK. (Press Assn.— By Telegraph — Copyright). (Received October 25 8.15 a.m ) MADRID, October 24. The Hamburg-America liner Borussia foundered m the Tagus, while coaling. One hundred and thirty-six passengers were rescued. There were three drowned. VANCOUVER, October 24. The Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Cliina sank alongside the wharf here owing to the sea-cocks being left open. The Borussia is a steamer of 1643 tons, built m 1883, at Sunderland, for a German Company, and subsequently taken over by the Hamburg-America line. The Empress of China is one of. a famous trio of liners, owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, and trading between Vancouver and the East. Tlie steamer was built at Barrow m 1891. and is of 5947 tons. She has luxurious accommodation. It was recently reported that there was a probability of one or more of the Empress liners being introduced . into the Vancouver-Australasian service. .
