A special service will be conducted ut Holy Trinity Church. A section competition, to extend over a period of three months from the Ist pro.*., is announced in connection with the Gisborne Rifles. The competition, which lias been promoted ' by Captain Beere, is intended to create a more lively interest in the efficiency of the corps. in the matter of discipline, attendance, state of uniform, arms, and accoutrements, together with efficiency ih drill and niurks-jaau-liip. A schedule of "points hus» been drawn up. which will be awarded to the respective sections for proficiency, whilst, other marks again will be deducted for unsoldierlv behaviour, ieh competition- is something on the lines of the one held during last encampment, which proved a keen incentive to the' men, but the prosent one will be conducted in connection with the ordinary wonting of the corps. The prizes are a challenge shield, together with 5s per man, a certificate and 10s to be awarded to the successful section commander.
