HAWKE'S BAY PRESBYTERY.
(Specjal to Herald.) NAPIER, tliis day. Several matters of interest to Poverty Bay were dealt with at a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Presbytery at Waipukurau yesterday. The Rev. Grant (Gisborne) was thanked for his energies in the interest of church extension in. the northern pait pf the East Coast.
Mr Walker, missionary at Ormond, reported tliat. tlu-oiigh the enterprise of Mr Bridges a site had been secured for a church at Motu. It was agreed t_ give a grant ot £30 from the Anderson bequest, and to recommend the cause to the consideration of the Now Century trustees.
A long and interesting report was received from the Rev. Mr Pa terson (Wellington), who at the request of the Presbytery visited Nuhaka. The Presbytery heartily thanked Mr PatersOn for his admirable services, and proceeded to carry out his ' recommendations. It was agreed that'-;' Morere. and. Nuhaka be disjoined from the parish of Wairoa-:aiid constituted a home mission charge. The Rev.* Mr Grant was appointed moderator" of the new ; charge. The clerk was instructed to congratulate members of the, charge upon: the progress and in paiticular upon the opening of a .new church at Xuliaka. Permission was given to the managers at Mohaka to sell the old church, which had been condemned by the Health Officer. Gratifying repoits were submitted on the summer work of students by the Rev. Grant, of Messrs White and Mackenzie. It was rasolvf d : "The Presbytery hears with satisfaction of the work of the students throughout the presbytery, and rejoices iu the success which has attended their efforts, and trusts that tkroi'«_h the zeal of the congregations interested the work will not be allowed to suffer through the absence of the students at college. '
