The President of the local branch of the Navy League has outlined a scheme for putting by each year any surplus, to be used m introducing boys of good character and physique into the navy or merchant services. Many boys who would like to go to sea are deterred by not being able to procure a "kit." Tlie League is keeping m view the establishment of a training ship on land like that at Liverpool. At this school boys are trained m seamanship, signalling and gunnery. Tyro years of such training, fit a boy for service, and £5 will purchase a kit. Notice has been given to move iv accordance with the suggestion.
