At Adelaide John Henry Nelson was sontenced to six months' imprisonment for stealing a gold dress ring, valued at £5. Nelson asked to be showp diamond and ruby, rings m a shop and, while the salesman's back was turned, he substituted a marquise ring, worth 6d, for one on the tray and, excusing himself, left the shop.
A letter signed by a "Now Zealandcr" appeared m the South Wales Mail, after the Now Zealand football match, and live' writer says: — "Every New Zealander will gladly and heartily congratulate Wales ou her splendid victory, but New Zealanders know that our men played at least twenty points below form. This fumbling and indecision was not due nlonc to stateness, but to tbcj very . unfair attitude of the crowd. Our men were as if paralysed. Why cheer Wales and hoot New Zealand'/ A party of Welshmen! behind us kept, on shouting to the referee lo watch Gallagher's 'unfair' methods, and to penalise him — then suddenly they asked us, 'Which is Gallagher?''?- '.-,.
