Three thousand operatives at Burnley attended a meeting and recommended the Weavers' Association to withdraw from ihe Labor Representation Committee. After the poll closed at Galway North Higgjns, the Nationalist candidate, died uf heart failure. Following is a Unionist gain :— Whitby :G. Beckett (Unionist). (Former member, Buxton, Liberal, 400 majority.) Following are Liberal gains : — Chesterton : E. G. Montagu (Liberal). (Former member, Greene, Conservative, 200 majority.) Hitchin: Bertram (Liberal). (Former member, Hudson, Conservative, unopposed.)
Richmond.: Acland (Liberal). (Former member, Hutton, Conservative, majority 1400.)
Dumbarton : White (Liberal). (Former member, Wylie, majority 700.) Worcester North : Wilson (Liberal). Was re-elected as a Liberal-Unionist.
