THE PHEROPHONE.
The pherophone is a business and domestic telephone, which is rapidly coming into favor. Its chief characteristics are its simplicity, distinctness, reliability, cheapness and easy handling. The instrument is an exceptionally handy one, and saves busy workere a lot of time. It is a small liand 1 apparatus of elegant finish, and is provided with a transmitter with a double-pole magnet system, and a granulated! carbon microphone (or receiver) of the best material. One does not speak into a bell-shaped piece used by everybody, but freely as when conversing m person. Consequently the pherophone is recommended both for hygienic aud sanitary reasons. Tlio connection of the pherophone to any existing bell installation is very simple indued. The troublesome waiting occasioned by ringing until the person wanted appears after having perhaps passed through several rooms is dispensed with, and also tlie loss of time m giving and carrying out orders, and therefore this handy little instrument should! quickly, findl its way into manj' private residences, as well as hotels, hospitals, factories, offices and mercantile houses. The time and exertion saved will quickly make up. for the cost of installation. It can be fixed to existing electric bdis andl indicators at a nominal cost. It 'lias already been installed m all the chief business places m Auckland, • New Plymouth, Stratford, Eltham, Wanganui. Palmerston North, Masterton, Dannevirke and 1 Napier, and a large number of gratifying testimonials have been received.' Mr; F.- S. Hoy, representative of Messrs GoSv and MacLeod, electricians, who are sole agents m New ealand for the pherophone, is at present m town, andl may be communicated with at the Hotel Coronation. No doubt most of the business people m this town will recognise the advantage of having an installation m tlieir premises.*
