MEETING OF MANGATU SETTLERS
A well-attended meeting of settlers was held last Saturday at Mr Tullock's residence, Mangatu, at which a- large amount of business was satisfactorily dealt with. The telephone system and its maintenance have been discussed, the road came 'under notice.. , It was unanimously decided to push on with metalling and other improvements, as soon as. the weather permits, and it is confidently expected that during, the coming ; summer the road will be brought to a Very satisfactory state. Amongst other suggestions adopted! it was decided to close the road for heavy traffic during certain winter months, and thus save it a, great deal of heavy wear and tear. A resolution was passed to form a branch of the Farmers' Union m. the Mangatu, and endeavor to bring the settlers together pftener through its agency. To do this it would! be necessary for the Waipaoa settlers to join m, m order to secure the required membership. A Committee was appointed to deal with tho matter. The meeting closed with the usual votes of thanks. It was decided to hold the next meeting btv October 15th next, at Mr Tullock's. when* it is hoped that all e-f.Hers interested will endeavor to attend. ■'' ■'■•-'-' /- " ■••■ • '■'
