An important grain case was heard m the Ashburton District Court, before his Honor Judge Ward and a' special jury. Hugh Kennedy, of Elgin, farmer, sued fhe New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association to recover the sum of £450 Is Id, being the amount accruing from a sale of wheat made by the association, and which plaintiff alleged had been sold without any instructions from him. Shortly after the wheat was placed m the cooperative store, the price" went, up Is per bushel, and the plaintiff claimed for the whole amount of grain sold at the difference between the price . obtained at the time of the- sale and what could have been obtained later. The jury, after an absence of ten minutes, gave a verdict m iavor oi the plajntiff.
