It will take over the assets and liabilities of the amalgamated companies, each receiving 600,000 fully paid-up shares. A hundred thousand will be held by the new company as reserved capital. (Received May 25, 9.7 a.m.) LONDON, May 24. The United Empire Trade League is organising meetings m provincial centres to discuss the question of preferential tariffs. The Archbishop of Canterbury inducted the new missionary vessel Southern Cross at the East India Dock. The Bishops ol St. Albans and Adelaide, and Bishop Montgomery, lately Bishop of Tasmania, Admirals Fremantle, Beaumont and Gibson, and a large company were present.
