: Eleot> io Tolegra h-Copyriglit— United Pre>a Asßocia ion (Received, January 22, 9.2 a.m ) LONDON, Jan. 21. Lieutenant-Colonel Cobbe, with 450 men of the African Rifles and 50 Sikhs, is starting from Obbja for a fortnight's reconnaissance towards Cialkayru Wells the Mullah's headquarters. " ' Colonel Cobbe has been awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery at Erego when the Mullah surprised a British column. Colonel Cobbe is to permanently occupy the country, and a similar advance will be made from the east coast through Italian territory. The Mullah will thus be practically blockhoused except in the west, and it is not improbable that before the advance takes place next year the Abyssinians.will co-operate. When the advance does take place a very large proportion of the force will be mounted so that when the Mullah is engaged he can be flanked or pursued with fresh horsemen lield in reserve. >
