(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Hon. Hall- Jones visited Hanmer Springs yesterday. He stated that the line m contemplation between Culvcrden and Hanmer would cost about £6,000 a mile, including the cost of the bridge over the Waiau. The course was very msy for the first few miles, but rougher afterwards, while there would be some trouble with the Waiau and various smaller streams. The line could only be started when authorised by Parliament, and at there was no authorisation and no vote. The question of construction must be, deferred until next session, but a detailed survey would be made of the route before'then, as only general survey bad up till now been taken.
