It is estimated (says a London papei-} that the trial now proceeding at the Old Bailey of eight City, merchants chained with conspiracy will cost £6o,VW> 01 which sum the country will have to pay £10 000. The prosecution called thirty witnesses, fifteen barristers have been briefed, including throe X.C.'s, and "the preliminary depositions run to 675 sheets and the printed exhibits to 3400 folios.
