Strike affairs are unchanged. The steamers are getting away .with little delay. The waterside workers -.are waiting instructions from headquarters.
(Received June 24, 9.10 a.m.) . SYDNEY, June 24. An inter-State conference of steamship owners and the Seamen's Union resulted in an agreement, whereby the present rates of pay remain in force till the end of January next. Ouwers held that, the trade had not improved since Uuri conference, and that wages should be . reduced, bub agreed not. to insist on a redaction. It is hoped that with a final settlement of the tariff, trad© will retprn to the normal condition. , The seamen agreed that if there was no improvement ■ when the agreement ends they would accept a reduction of at, least ten shillings ' a month without furtlier question.
