EDUCATION BOARD.
(Special to Herald.) NAPIER, this day. The Education Board referred the Gisborne suggestion that scholarship examinations be held on the same system as university examinations to Mr Hill for a report. The Committee are to be informed that the regulations do not provide for payment to the headmaster, on account of Miss Morgan passing her ex-* amination. Makauri's application to retain the services of Miss Bedingfield was referred to Mr Hill. Miss Ingleson was appointed assistant mistress at Ormond. Miss Peterson's resignation at Patutahi was accepted. The Secretary of Education wrote with reference to a claim for grants of £25 for schools at. Port Awanui and of the vote for school buildings in newly-settled districts, that he considered the Board should provide for small works of this kind out of the ordinary building grant.
