HARRY RICKARDS'S COMPANY.

Thk Rickards Tivoli Company open their Gisborne season at the Theatre Royal this evening, and should draw a crowded house, the combination being of its kind one of the best that has visited the colony. The Company is highly spoken of by southern critics, and most successful seasons have just been concluded at Nnpier and Hastings. The Standard says :— " A combination of such Bterling artists had never before been seen in Hastings, and if public appreciation is to be judged by the frequent and enthusiastic nature of the applause, the Company should feel highly flattered at its reception. Mr Harry Rickards is a show in himself. He is a coster, vocalist, actor, and manager all rolled into one. There is nothing assumed about him. He is Harry Rickards pure and simple, and there is only one Rickards on 'this sublunary sphere"" Of Biondi the Hawke's Bay Herald says: — "Let us begin with Biondi, who has, perhaps, been 'boomed' more than the others, but by no means over-boomed, 1 for Biondi is all that has been said of him. A medium-sized good-looking Italian introduces himself with an apology for his broken English, but this is by no means necessary, for his patter is all the more pleasant "because it is broken. He appears in a musical sketch- of several characters, which, while, it may have been instituted by performers of the older school, has Dever been presented in such an attractive form, nor perhnps so cleverly. He is husband, wife, lover, and student, all wrapped in one, presenting a comedy full of incident and amusement, and displaying Wb versatality in a most remarkable degree, and at the end leaving his audience bewildered by tho rapidity with which his changes are given. Voice, gesture, dress— all are com-

plete, and, laso of all, as he appears as Biondi himself, lie bows amidst the enthusiastic plaudits of those in front. Mr Richards and Signor Biondi are supported by a large aud talented company.
