[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON. To-day. The Official Assignee has recommended to the Justice department that provision should be made in the Bankruptcy Act to the effect that where a married woman enters into similar business to that carried on by her husband within six months of his bankruptcy, she shall give the Assignee on demand the fullest information as to the business and her financial position, and failure to supply such information or produce books when demanded shall be deemed contempt of Court. The Assignee also suggests that clauses should be added making married women with property equally liable with her husband j for all supplies and medical attendance for tho family and giving power to the Assignee to recover.

.Last session Mr J. Hutcheson, M.H.R., made certain charges about the ease with which marino certificates were issued. The Government have made iin enquiry into the matter, with the result that one official has been suspended and a summons issued against him and two others on a charge of improperly assisting to procure the issue of a certificate. The case will be heard next week.

AUCKLAND, To-day. At the office of the OlKcial Assignee yesterday, Clias. A. W. Bailey mane a statement before the Official Assignee as to his connection with the yacht Laurel and the winning of a £100 prize. The statement in the newspapers ihat bankrupt was the owner of the yiicht was untrue. He sailed the yacht without remuneration, and neither directly nor indirectly had any monetary interest in the yacht or its winnings.
