INTERPROVINCIAL.

[Per Press Association.]

WELLINGTON. To-day

At a meeting of delegates of tliu Now Zealand Cylists' Alliance it was decided by 640 votes to 4 to remove the headquarters to Timaru. In view of the fact that many of our best shots have signified their unwillingness to make the trip to Sydney next month to fire iv the Federal match, Major Somerville has suggested to the Commandano of the Forces that the trip be abandoned, as it would be impossible to send anything approaching a representative New Zealand team. The probabilities are that this suggestion will be carried out.

Later.— The Government hive finally decided not to send a rifle team lo take part in the Federal meeting at Sydney.

AUCKLAND. To-day.

The total output of gold from tho goldfields for September was £44,737. This is not equal to last month's, which was a record one, but is £7000 ahead of July.

An intimation has been received by the Rev. H. Kelly that His Excellency the Governor will be very pleased to lay tho foundation stone of Knox Church about tjie beginning of December. It was considered that Lord Ranfurly's connection with the House of John Kuox renders it peculiarly appropriate that he should take the chief part on such an occasion. Two men named John Henry Gunn and Robert Alexander Gnmi have been arrested at Coromandel, J. H. Andrews has been arrested atKuaotunu, and William Brien and Douglas have been arrested in Auckland, all in connection with the charge of stealiug £531 worth of goldbearing quartz, the property of the KapangaGoldmining Company. The men were trihuters in the Kapanga property, and it is alleged Brien and Douglas brought the quartz to Auckland, and had it crushed by Fraser and Tinney. Brien and Douglas were before the Police Court to-day, and were remanded until to-morrow, bail being refused.
