Nov. 4. — In the Legislative Assembly Mr Lyne's motion was defeated by 65 to 33. The Labor party voted with the Govern- | ment. Air McGowan, as spokesman, blamed the warden, noc the Minister of Mines, for acting partially. The party, he said, had determined to have an enquiry, but Mr Lyne's motion was intended to burke enquiry. HOBART, Nov. 4. The Premier, addressing the Assembly, announced that as a result of a Ministerial caucus the present time was inopportune for the Government to resign, and |they would continue to hold office. MELBOURNE, Nov. 4. At the Australasian Axemen's Carnival Mitchell (New Zealand) won the £100 handicap for underhand chopping. ADELAIDE, Nov. 4. The League of Wheelmen have decided to disqualify Marten for twelve months for boycotting the League and breaking his agreement.
