HOME-BAKING A PLEASURE NOW

Messrs Brown & Polsox, the celebrated Paisley firm of Corn Flour fame, have brought out a new preparation of their Corn Flour for home-baking, which they have named " Paisley Flour/ It is to be mixed one part with six to eight of ordiiiiiry flour, for raising and improving scones, cakes, pastry, and household bread, and when used no yeast, baking soda, or other raising agent is required.- The peculiar advantages of " Paisley Flour " are that the work of baking is made quite simple, and the process of vising is so assisted that success is assured. Bread is mproved in flavor, and made easy of diguson even when new. Everyone who bakes ac home should try it at once. -A free sample packet may be had on application to J. li. People who paid heavy rates at this end of the town should be considered in the matter. — The amendment was not seconded, and the motion was agreed to. — Cr Lewis wanted the matter brought to a head to-night, or that the money should be handed back to the subscribers. He moved that tenders be invited for the erection of the tower, and that the balance of the money be provided by the Council. — Cr Hepburn said that Cr Harding had said that if a design was agreed to there would be no difficulty in getting in the money. He thought Cr Harding should now go to work. — Cr Harding said he in.uh; the proviso lli.il tiic design .should bo ;i good one and the lower put in a sensible place, lie .should lake no action in the matter. — Cr Nasmith seconded the motion. — (Jr Nolan thought if the public would not subscribe the money they should not have the tower.— The motion was lost, Crs Harding, Skeet, Nolan, and Hepburn voting against. — Cr Lewis moved that the subscriptions collected for the purpose be refunded. — Cr Harding said people in the centre of the town would not subscribe to have a lirebell tower in the proposed situation. — Cr Lewis said many people who had business places in Gladstone road did not live there, and ho could not understand Cr Hardiug's attitude on the subject. The proposed site was only a few yards away from its present situation. — The Mayor said he wanted someone to suggest a means of getting the balance of the money. He was afraid they would not get much more by going round collecting. —Cr Lewis: You have left it over too long. — Cr Skeet : (Jet up a demonstration. — The Mayor: Or a Borough Council conceit : each Councillor sing si song. — The discussion then terminated, without anything further having been decided on.
