THE PRIMATE'S ELECTION.
» REMARKABLE SCENE AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY. REV. BROWN-JOHN PROTESTS. London, Deo. 23. A remarkable scene took place yesterday at tho confirmation of the election of Dr. Temple ac Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rev. Brown-John, chaplain to the late Bishop of Bath, protested on the ground that Bishop Temple had confessed he was a believer .in evolution. Dr. Muclagen, Archbishop of York, Chief Commissioner, overruled the objection, but the Rev. Brown-John twice reiterated hia protest and declared tho ceremony a farce. There was an immense congregation. A maudamus will probably be applied for.
