FATAL COACH ACCIDENT.

Napieb, to-day. A fatal coach accident happened at Konini Gorge yesterday morning, by whioh John Simmoua, groom at Konini for G. MoDonald, and three horses were drowned. The usual coach road being impassable a drag with five horses driven by A. McDonald, together . with the uaual passenger coach, driven by A. Knox, endeavored to come dowu the old .'•. river route. After negotiating what is usually considered the most difficult portion of the road, including four crossings, the Konini Gorge was reached safely. When the drag, which was acting as pifot for the coach, attempted to cross the gorge, which . appeared quite safe, the horses almost immediately got out of their depth and the drag ' ' was instantly submerged. Simmons struck out for the shore, and when last seen was swimming with the greatest confidence towards the bank. The two wheelers were drowned, but the three leaders managed to release themselves from the coach and two esoapod. No fear waß entertained for Simmons by either McDonald or Knox, hn being a good swimmer, and until they legained a position . of safety his disappearance was nob dipcovered.
