London, Jan. 24. The Union Bank of Australia recommends a dividend of five per cent., and carries forward £12,000. A meeting of shareholders of the English, Scottish, and Australian Bank unanimously approve of a Bill for the reconstruction of the bank. The Bank of England returns, published 1 10-day, show the total reserve in notes 1 and bullion to be £39,173,000, the proportion 1 of reserve to liabilities being 6252 per cent.
