' At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Shipping Company, to be held in London on October 19th, the directors* after fully providing for depreciation, 'Will recommend a dividend at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum. - Mr W. B. Dawson, formerly traffic manager. on the Wellington-Maaterton railway, has secured a position on tbe Western Australian railway staff, and leaves for that colony shortly. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. The Supreme Court civil sittings were resumed to-day, when the case of Baker v. Hornsby for libel, in which £200 damages was claimed was heard before Judge Denniston alone. His Honor gave judgment for plaintiff for £10 with costs. AUCKLAND, To-day. Obituary : William Green, builder, and an old resident. The .schooner Christina is still on Rangitoto reef.
