County Council Conference.
Wellington, to-day. At the Counties' Conference Mr McNab's motion with reference .to the borrowing powers of local bodies was agreed to after a long discussion. A motion by Mr Von Reden, that County Councils should have power to levy a general rate not exceeding |d in the £ for the purpose of creating a fund for the restoration of bridges on County roads, was agreed to. A resolution was carried that the Government be requested to pay the rates on all State farms.
