ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS. Melbourne, July 29. The London correspondent of the Argus, writing under date of June 21st in regard to the coming wool sales, says New Zealand was heavily represented, and so -far as the prospects can be guaged the clip has arrived ; moßt opportunely. • Growers will find a strong rising market- for coarser grades, and it is evident bright-haired wools have entered upon a new lease of life, and there seems, every probability of the decline id values being recovered. New Zealand growers may congratulate themselves on their good luck, for until a week ago people expected the heavy arrivalß would have the effect of weakening values of New Zealand croßsbreds which were largely offering. New Zealand wools, at the coming series, naturally excited some comment. Ab to the quantities sold locally, compared with the amount sold in London. At the local auctions in New Zealand — as it iB well - known — are Btnall compared with Victoria and New South Wales. There is a strong feeling among buyers and large consumers here that if some steps could be taken to centralise the market in New Zealand, and bo make the business more easily workable, largely -increased Bupport would be more readily given, and success similar to that experienced in Sydney- and Melbourne might be expected if one large central market in the|North and one in the South Island coold be established.. Impetus., will be given and an inducement beld ouc to buyers that would prove effectual to the growth of the local market. Sydney, July 29. The rise in wool in London is affecting the local market. Two lota were placed at Is tydand Is 2d respectively. The latter is a record price for the year, and Id per lb above the top' quotations realised at the last auction aaleß either in Sydney or Melbourne.
