The Executive has approved the granting of permission to Captain Close, upon whom a court-martial was recently held, to retire from the service retaining his rank of captain. MELBOURNE, Jims 5. The Government has instructed Mr Wilson, dairy expert, to visit .New Zealand at the end of the month to inquire into the manufacture of cheese on the Canadian principle, with a view of imparting instruction in. the local factories. The Presbytery of North Melbourne has approved of the acceptance of the Rev. Hewitson's call to Knox Church, Dunedin. The members of the Presbytery highly eulogised Mr Hewitson's worth.
