Hospital Trustees.

The monthly meeting of th« Hospital Trustees «h held last evening at tb« hospital. Present : Meeers Nolan (Chairman), Finn, Taylor, Watson, and Loom. The Chairman asked if the Charitable Aid Board was not arrear with their payments to the trustees. The Secretary said about a third of the money due from tbeCburi table Aid Board had been received. If the local bodies did not pay the Charitable Aid Board that body could not pay the trustees. The local bodies were not apparently in funds. The Chairman said he had a decided objection to having an overdraft at the taak. He thought the Secretary should writ* to the Charitable Aid Hoard, requesting the payment of the money due to the Trustees. It was the principle involved be objected to. Mr Lucas said the Trustees had an overdraft at the bank to suit the convenience; of the Local Bodies. Mr Finn said the Trustees fully sympathised with the Local Bodies' unsatisfactory financial position. Mr Watson said it was a most unsatisfactory position for the Trustees to be in. They lived from hand to mouth, and had not •oouqh money to pay their bills as they came doe. Mr Lucas suggested that Mr Taylor, who represented the Borough Council, should inform the Council of the Trustees' position. Mr Finn said it was not the Borough Council that did not pay, bat the County. Mr Lucas pointed out that until the money was paid by the Local Bodies, the Government would not pay the subsidy doe. The Chairman moved that the Secretary write to the County Council requesting pay* ment of the amount of its contribution. SURGICAL CASBB. Mr Lucas said when the estimates for next year were made, he would move that » separate room should be erected far the treatment of surgical case*. This was much required. VlsmifO OOMXITTZK. Mr Watson said the committee had visited the hospital several times during the month, and had found everything in satisfactory order. Arthur ; linen from Mrs Eric Goldsmith ; periodicals and magaxiaee from the Poverty Bay Club ; 12 months' numbers of the Illustrated London, News from Mr C C. Lucas ; books and magazines from the Scripture Gift Aseocia> tion, Auckland, and 2 volumes of Bible Echo from Mr R. Rennie. — A heart? vote of thanks was passed to the various donorr. AOOOCICTS.
