SUPREME COURT

♦ Wellington, to-day. The Supreme Court was occupied to-day with a case m which Mr R. P. Greville, engineer to the Alfredton Road Board (Wairarapa) sues W. C. Carqill, proprietor of the Wairarapa Star and Eketahuna Mail to recover £1000 damages for alleged libel m December last. The Star and Mail published an article headed " Wholesale Robbery," m which it is contended that charges of gross corruption were levelled against the plaintiff m his official capacity. The case, which is being heard before Mr Justice Richmond and a special jury of twelve, is likely to last a couple of days. \
