A DENIAL.
[To the Editor op thk Heilvld.] Sir, — Will you allow me, through the medium of your paper, to contradict the report which I hear has been circulated that I signed my name to the petition for a road round the hill. Whatever my private opinion may be on the merits or demerits of the River-side road, I am quite convinced that, owing to the shortness of funds for public works m this district, it would be quite hopeless to expect a permanent . and well-graded road to be made, at present, round the hill. — I, am, &c, •,. , .,.
