AN ABSCONDER ARRESTED

Sydney, June 15. A man calling himself Palmer, supposed to be an absconder named Bailey from New Zealand, was arrested m Dubbo. He had recently lodged £980 m New Zealand hank notes m the bank at Orange, but afterwards withdrew the amount m notes and gold, and then went to Dubbo. Wellington, to-day. The Commissioner of Police received a cable confirming the news of the arrest of Bailey, the New Zealand absconder, m Dubbo, with £900 m his possession. Bailey was a stock drover and dealer, and m April last suddenly disappeared, after disposing of a mob of cattle, belonging to small settlers m and around the Taranaki d|striflt» m the district of Palmerston North and Hawke's Bay. A constable will be sent immediately to bring the accused back.
