[By Telegraph. — Press Association.] WELLINGTON, To-day. The licensing elections here are fixed for March 21st. DUNEDIN, To-day. It is reported that very rich stone has been unearthed by Henry Purser at Cattle Cove, Preservation Inlet. Three claims of 30 acres each have been taken up. The reef is believed to extend through great unbroken country, and a new goldfield will probably be opened up. AUCKLAND, To-day. The fishing yacht Hawke, bound from Russell to Auckland, is missing. She left on the 20th ult., and nothing has been heard of her since. The crew consisted of two men, Charles Flowerday, aged 56, and John Cope, aged 60. A very lively meeting of the finance and legal committee of the Harbor Board, at which the committee considered the annual address of the late Chairman, has been held. The discussion on the speech was long and lively, and it is asserted that members waxed very excited over the address. It was eventually decided to recommend that it is not necessary to print the address with ! the usual annual report. BULLS, To-day. The houses on the Bridge road had a narrow escape from destruction by bush fires , on Saturday. In the Sanson district bush fires were also raging on Friday and Saturday, and the utmost difficulty was experienced m keeping the flames from several farm-houses and wool sheds. The damage done to grass and fences is very great, and the loss to farmers will be heavy.
