» [By TELEGRAnr.— Press Association.] WELLINGTON, To-day. The licensee of the Metropolitan Hotel, charged with Sunday trading, was to-day fined ■£10andcosts. The police decided toprosecule W illiam Mailman, who admitted wrongly declaring himself to be a traveller. At a meeting of the Ballance memorial committee, a circular from the Auckland committee suggesting that the memorial should take the form of scholarships, for which £2000 had been received, was discussed, and the committee decided that they could see no reasou for any alteration in the present intentions. DUNEDIN, To-ray. Up to date over 1200 women's claims for enrolment in the city and suburbs have been lodged.
