• Press Association— Electric Telegraph— Copyrigh SYDNEY, Sept. 22. Steugel, a German sailor who stabbed another to death on Wednesday, was fount! guilty by a coroner's jury. On the way tc the gaol he escaped from the cab and was only run to earth after a long chase. Sept. 23. — The Black Creek colliery at Minnie will close down to-day. By this 380 men and boys will be added to the list of unemployed. Cabinet has approved of a scheme for consolidation of the statute law and a Royal Commission, including Judges, AttorneyGeneral, and Minister of Justice will be appointed to carry it out. MELBOURNE, Sept. 23. The Hon. R. Baker, at present Honorary Minister, will succeed the late Hon. J. Campbell as Minister of Education, and will be sworn in on Tuesday.
