V.R.C. WINTER MEETING. GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE. Melbourne, July 15. Ab the winter meeting of the V.R.C. to-day, the weather was fine, and there was a large attendance. Grand National Steeplechase. — Trojan (Edge) 1, Shylock (Brewer) 2, Bubaco (Williams) 3. Fifteen horses started. The betting was 7to 2 Shylock, and 4 to 1 Trojan. From a good start Albert and Trojau headed the field, and maintained their advantage for the greater part of the journey, but Albert, while full of running, fell at the last fence, allowing Trojan to win easily by four lengths. Time, 7min 4isec. Ouida came a cropper and was killed. Christchcrch, to-day. Shillelagh -was scratched this morning for the Grand National Steeplechase.
