Auckland Building Society.
Auckland, to-day. Tho Committee of the Auckland Permanent Co-operative Building and Investment Society has issued a circular to the shareholders, stating that the investing shareholders holding more than half of the society's paid up share capital having given notice to withdraw, the committee feel that tho society's business can no longer be carried on without danger. They, therefore, intend shortly to convene a general meeting of members and propose that the society be dissolved. The circular proceeds: — " The depositors and other creditors have first claim upon all the assets. If there are no serious losses beyond those estimated to arise in realising our securities, there should be funds nob only to pay all the liabilities, but also to return to investing shareholders the money they have paid in the society. The realization must, however, be proceeded with deliberately and without undue haste."
