[By Telegraph.— Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Last night. The report of the Commission on the Sumner Deaf aud Dumb Institute is favorable to Von Ascli, the master. The details have not been made public. | CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. The influenza epidemic is very prevalent here. On this account the Sydenham State schools have been closed. The disease iB not so virulent aa last year, and ho deaths recorded are direotly traceable to it. AUCKLAND, To-day. The bodies of the two men Taylor and Harvey, -drowned by the capsizing of a boat at Great Barrier Island, bava been recovered. The annual report of the Northern Boot and Shoe Manufacturing Company shows the net result of the year's operations to be £430, but that the balance to credit of profit and loss account was £1894, an increase on the previous returns. The Known bad debts and working expenses are less per cent, than on any previous occasion. The chief factors in small profits are increase of wages and reduced selling prices, due to experimental trading by people new to trade.
