Dec. 9. — Arrived : Mariposa from 'Frisco via Auckland. MELBOURNE, Dec. 8. Arrired : s.s. Miowera, sister boat to the Warrimoo, after a passage of 42 days. At a meeting of Sir M. Davies' creditors a statement was submitted showing the liabilities to be £133,121, assets £28,769. The principal secured creditors are : Bank of New South Wales £25,000, Bank of Australasia £1650, Commercial Bank £6000. The Australasian Mutual Provident Society holds a mortgage over his property to the extent of £40,000. The meeting approved of the course pursued by Sir Matthew Davies, and adjourned for further consideration. Dec. 9. — Arrived : Manapouri from Bluff. Sir M. Davies proposes to assign his assets to his creditors and also to hand over to them his earnings for the next five years, less a living allowance to be fixed by the creditors. ADELAIDE, Dec. 9. Dr. Kennion, Biahop of Adelaide, has issued a circular to the clergy in his diocese to devote a portion of the offerteries next Sunday to the relief of distress at Broken Hill. The new Loan Bill asks for power to borrow L 1,016,000,, 016,000, chiefly for the construction of railways and public works. The rate of interest is fixed at 3£ per cent. The Treasurer pointed out that a portion of the last loan which had not been floated would be placed on the market at the first favorable opportunity. The small pox patient is progressing favorably. There are no further developments of the disease.
